Happy Halloween everyone~

It's not that huge a deal down here in australia, but we were given the option of wearing costume to work or our uniforms this week.

So, rather than suffer the horrible icky ichyness of my work shirt, i improvised xD

$5 black shirt, 70 cents worth of felt and some fabric glue later and I was set. Yay me!
Everyone else at work came dressed as witches...

Plus, this shirt is damn comfortable, I didn't even have work today and I'm bumming around the house in it.
It held up pretty well in the washing machine.

OH! I also might have a transfer to the service station across the street soon. Same company but it's petrol instead of groceries PLUS i get longer hours and a nicer manager (yey)

That's enough Laura-boring-stuff for now. *waves*

bit bored

Well, yesterday was ick. My manager managed to break her record and got two girls to cry at once. Needless to say, we anonymously reported her for bullying.

It's been going on for way too long, and honestly, if you can't do a job like that without constantly insulting your staff to the point they break down in tears you shouldn't have a position of power.

Enough of that, time for artz
cut to save the f-list. Ponies and transformers and centaurs this time )

I went to the Brisbane botanical gardens today for the Japanese festival with a good friend of mine x3
Festival was baaad (barely anything going on) but we took a picnic and ended up wandering around a bit. We even went to the orchid show and bought my dad a pretty flower for his birthday.

My friend and I were the youngest people AT the orchid show xD
I'm sad to say, the gardens are still a little ruined after the floods. Broken limbs in the gardens and dead plants around everywhere.
No matter, the cactus garden and Japanese area's were still quite pretty.

Have some pictures. :3

I had my defensive driving course today x3
Good fun, spent an entire day swerving around little orange cones on a wet course. I passed by the way *yay* but ohhhh my god. the drive home was HORRIBLE. People, when they get on the highway, suddenly become IDIOTS.

Annnyway, here, have some art :3

be warned, a couple aren't work safe

ART! )

bweeee!

Busy week is busy xD
Got my hair re-done at the hairdressers. It's now dark red with blond streaks. When i say dark i mean daaaark. It looks brown until the light hits it from behind. The girl who did it was all excited about the colour combination i asked for and took before and after shots for her portfolio. It looks HEAPS better than it did before.

Also, I may have gotten some tutoring jobs lined up for this year (yay)
I only need 2 kids and i'll get more money than i get at the moment and can tell woolworths to go away~
The hairdresser got all excited when i told her i tutored and five other mothers were fighting over my phone number xD

We got a new chicken to replace the one that died last week. Sweet little thing. Keeps following me around because the other chickens are picking on her.

big storm rolled through this afternoon again. We could tell it was going to be bad when the dog literally bit a chunk out of the solid wooden door to the balcony where he hangs out.

It started off with some rumbling, fairly normal for australia this time of year, then some light spitting. THEN it turned into a full on deluge, lightening and thunder, flooded backyard. Rain whipping in sideways and making under the patio all wet.

Then a power pole just up the road got hit by lightening at about 2pm :/
So we've been in a blackout for almost 8 hours *derp, was woken up when my bedroom light turned back on*

Of course, this entire time the dogs been upstairs freaking out. Alternating between 'im going to follow whoever is moving around' and 'curled up in the corner in misery'. This was after his breif period of 'jump on anyone sitting down and try to topple out of chairs' though.

My other dog, ben, the big black labrador, couldn't care less. He kindof just ambled inside and slept in the garage all afternoon to stay out of the wet.

We would put george in there too but he has a habit of climbing on things and/or ripping them to shreds. Last thing he got a hold of were some of those enviro-shopping bags. These shredded bags were later used to tie our banana tree to stakes so it's all good. Recycling and all that jazz xD

My mum and i also had a hair appointment this afternoon and, in going, found out that it was only our street without power. Literally, three houses to the left and nine houses to the right are on a different grid than us :/

So, after dinner (chinese food from down the road) my younger brother and i spent a good while watching dvd's on dads laptop. Batteries in macs must be fracking magic i swear to god. six hours? what is this madness!?

The entire time we were watching stuff, up at the kitchen table, george decided that under my legs was an excellent place to sit. i had a fluffy cattledog footrest.

Power came back on at about 7pm... then we heard a bang. The transformer blew AGAIN. Power just came back on at 10pm.

welp, exam tomorrow. Only got a little last minute cramming in due to nature deciding i'd had enough.

Have some pictures and video of the ordeal.
