im not grumpy enough to be called ratchet

i was up until 2 oclock this morning getting rid of a particularly nasty virus that i noticed 2 minutes before it screwed up my executable file association.

luckily i managed to nerd out enough to fix it and fixed up all of my registry keys.

this just so happened to be the same virus that screwed over death_hendry's laptop a few weeks ago. except i managed to kill it before it screwed up my computer too bad...

be on the lookout for it. it disguises itself as a security program and then tells you that you have a whole heap of viruses on your computer but wont get rid of them until you buy the program. DONT FALL FOR IT!! IT WANTS YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER!!

Save all your important files, download a mallware destroyer and run both it and your antivirus several times until it finds the trojan. if it changes your .exe file association restart your computer while holding f8 and restore your computer to a previous days settings.

also, open the command prompt window and type in "assoc.exe=exefile" to fix the exe file association.

I've already had this virus :-( I didn't have this excellent knowledge and antepathy can tell you, it killed my computer had to link it up to another to try and save all my files, nearly lost all my stories pictures everything :-( My computer was screwed for two weeks. Had to learn how to handwrite again :P

Having avast on your computer picks it up before it infects it. It's pretty good. I didn't have it and I ended up with 293 malware worms and viruses, it was literally riddled with it. Glad you managed to fix yours.

Yea, people, seriously, don't be a stupid fag like me, cause i saw the shield icon, assumed it was a windows updater and my basic protection shit that had come with my computer needed updating, and i went and downloaded a fragging virus like a total N00B. Malware-shield is not windows associated. It will make you want to die inside 8C

Sorry - I don't think I'm going to have enough time to play in all the side adventures, as fun as they look; I haven't even had time to get caught up reading them all! I'm getting really swamped with work and rl right now - I left a comment for [livejournal.com profile] tv_the_sue in First Aid's last post, but if you know of someone who has more time to play First Aid if you want him to be there for all the delightful shenanigans, I'd be willing to switch to Dreamwave First Aid or one of the other P-bots. Plz forgive me, I must save some time for the sleeping and the eating D:

I don't know if it has anything to do with your recent virus problems, but your latest userpic email alerted my security software that it had a trojan (bloodhound.exp.281) attached to it.

I've never has any LJ -related trojans before...just thought you'd need to know about it.
