My dog freaked out this morning and jumped the fence, it's dark now and he still isnt home yet

I had a cat disappear on me like that. Didn't see her for a month. I'd figured she was dead. Nope. She'd been living up the street in the woods, preying on neighbors with her cute. This was a cat you'd figure had NO survival skills (Chai was...dumb), and she turned up just fine. I hope the same thing happens with your dog--dogs tend to have more common sense than cats!
